Step 1 of 4 – Enter Organization Details and Current
Plate Information.
Most commonly, you would terminate your organization’s registration because you
sold your vehicle and want to ensure that the tax town takes it off the tax roll
in the organization’s name. If you are terminating the registration because it is
a vehicle you own but are not currently operating (i.e. - You use it seasonally
or are restoring it) choose Customer Held as the option for your plates. This allows
you to do one of two things. First, you can terminate your registration and move
the plates to another vehicle you own or, second, you can store the plates yourself
and then have the DMV reassign them when you start driving the vehicle again.
NOTE: Do not cancel your insurance until you have cancelled your
registration with the DMV. Doing so could lead to compliance.
- Begin the registration and plate cancellation process by entering your Secretary
of State Number, Plate Number, and Plate Class.
