You must have a vehicle with a valid Connecticut registration to apply for a special vanity plate.

Before ordering a special plate, you need to verify your personal information and the information for the plate you would like to replace with the special plate. To order a special plate it is required you have a valid and active registration on file. Special plates must be ordered after your initial registration is on file.
Enter your
First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, CT Drivers License Number/ID Card Number, Plate Number,
and
Plate Class.

Exactly as it appears on your CT Drivers License/CT ID Card.
Last Name
Exactly as it appears on your CT Drivers License/CT ID Card.
Date of Birth
Use the format MM/DD/YYYY. For example, 09/08/1972.
DL or ID Number
Exactly as it appears on your CT Drivers License/CT ID Card.
Plate Number
The plate number of the plate you are replacing with a special plate.
Plate Class
Only Camp Trailer, Camper, Combination, Commercial, Passenger plates are eligible to be replaced with special plate via the web site.

If there is a discrepancy between your legal name and what is listed on your CT Drivers License/CT ID Card, please contact the DMV.
